Dan Burn could be involved against Newcastle United this weekend.

Albion will look for a return to the top six in the Premier League this Saturday when they face Newcastle United, kick-off 5.30pm.

Leandro Trossard’s point-securing strike at Anfield last weekend sees Albion sit eighth after ten games, as they continue to build on their best ever start to a Premier League campaign.

While Albion haven’t won in five league matches, Graham Potter’s team have only lost twice all season conceding nine times, with four of those coming in the defeat to Manchester City. At the same stage last season Albion had let in 16 goals.

PL Highlights: Liverpool 2 Albion 2

Saturday’s visitors are yet to taste victory this campaign, sitting second from bottom with 12 points fewer than Albion (four).

New owners at St James’ Park spelt the end of Steve Bruce’s tenure as manager, and the search for his replacement is ongoing. Former Luton Town boss and boyhood Magpies fan Graeme Jones is currently at the helm until that vacancy is filled on a permanent basis.

Newcastle have actually scored the same amount of goals as Albion so far this campaign (11), but it’s at the other end where the issue has been for the Toon. With 23 goals conceded – the second worst record in the league – and no clean sheets, the Magpies will need to find some defensive solidity if they want to haul themselves up the table. They currently find themselves six points short of safety.

Danny Welbeck won't be available for this weekend's game against Newcastle.

Graham Potter said, "Dan Burn is not definitely out, he's made really good progress, there's an outside chance of him being involved.

"Danny Welbeck and Steven Alzate are also doing well, but won't be involved in the game against Newcastle."

Extended PL Highlights: Albion 3 Newcastle 0

Albion hit top form when they faced Newcastle back in March. Leandro Trossard curled in emphatically from the edge of the box, before Danny Welbeck’s carbon copy strike doubled Albion’s lead. Neal Maupay added a third to the tally with a lovely effort – a result that moved Albion six points clear of the relegation zone with nine to play, while worsening Newcastle’s position who at the time were sat in 17th spot.

Newcastle player to watch

By Paul Hazlewood
Allan Saint-Maximin has two Premier League goals to his name so far this campaign.

He’s not only the player to watch, but with the ball at his feet he’s difficult to take your eyes off. Allan Saint-Maximin oozes the mercurial talent that Newcastle supporters will be hoping can pull them away from danger this campaign. Involved in five goals (two goals, three assists) in ten Premier League matches, the Frenchman’s direct style is enough to put the frighteners on any defence in the top tier.
