Extended Carabao Cup Highlights: Cardiff 0 Albion 2

Graham Potter named a starting XI with an average age of just 20.5, and despite the experienced Bluebirds line-up, Albion were comfortable winners in South Wales.

Now Potter comes up against his former club for the first time since leaving the Liberty Stadium in the summer of 2019.

Russell Martin’s team have enjoyed some of their best results this campaign in the Carabao Cup, following a 3-0 win over Reading and a 4-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle in previous rounds.

Team news

Graham Potter said, “Tariq [Lamptey] is in the squad, he will be in the 18 so there's a good chance supporters will get to see him play. He's played a majority of his games behind closed doors, so it will be special.

"Yves [Bissouma] has recovered quite well from the weekend, we're hopeful that he will train at the back end of the week and be available to play against Crystal Palace. There are no problems generally from the weekend in terms of fitness."

Quick highlights from a fantastic afternoon at the Amex.

Albion have enjoyed their encounters with Swansea City in recent years, doing the domestic double over the Swans in the 2017/18 campaign as they were relegated from the Premier League. Glenn Murray scored the only goal of the game at the Liberty Stadium in November of that season, before Albion a thrilling day out at the Amex in the reverse fixture, cruising to a 4-1 win.

Swansea City player to watch

Summer signing Joel Piroe has hit the ground running at Swansea since his summer transfer from Dutch top-flight side PSV. The 22-year-old has four goals in all competitions, adding to his tally at the weekend with a late equaliser against Luton Town on Saturday, having at one stage been 3-0 down. Piroe has represented his country up to under-20 level and also spent last season on loan with Sparta Rotterdam.
