Hope Powell's team have taken maximum points from their opening two WSL matches this campaign.

Hope Powell says Albion made a significant statement after thrashing Birmingham City to claim their biggest Women's Super League win.

Goals from Victoria Williams, Inessa Kaagman, Daniele Carter, Emma Koivisto and Kayleigh Green earned Albion a 5-0 win at St Andrew' to make it two wins out of two.

Powell said, “That is quite a statement. We have been on the end of a drubbing like that before so I said to the girls out on the pitch at the end of the game to have a look at the scoreboard and enjoy it.

The scoreboard at St Andrew's certainly made for good reading for Albion.

“We controlled the game well. At times they did make it easy for us but we moved the ball well and our finishing was clinical.

“It was really nice to see Dani Carter on the scoresheet. One of her ambitions when come to the club was to be that goalscorer for the club so she’s on her way now.

“And Emma’s goal is something we worked on in training and was her first for the club so that was really nice.

“The way we managed the game was excellent and the most important thing was that we won the game and kept a clean sheet, but to get the five goals was really nice.”
