Albion under-23s continued their unbeaten start in Premier League 2 with a 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Saturday.

After winning their first two games of the season, Andrew Crofts' side had to settle for a point at the Kirkby Academy, with Antef Tsoungui's own goal cancelling out Evan Ferguson's 20th minute opener.

16-year-old Ferguson, who made his first-team debut during Tuesday’s Carabao Cup win against Cardiff City, fired past Liverpool goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga to make it three goals in three games this season.

Albion made it three unbeaten in Premier League 2.

His confident strike into the bottom corner had Albion ahead for nine minutes, before Tsoungui was unlucky to deflect Jack Bearne’s effort past Tom McGill.

The young centre-back nearly made immediate amends but headed over from Marc Leonard’s corner, before McGill made a stunning stop at the beginning of the second-half to deny Tyler Morton.

Leonard almost secured his side all three points on two occasions, but had a late header correctly ruled-out for offside and had a shot from distance well saved by Pitaluga.

Despite the draw, Albion remain joint top of PL2 with seven points from a possible nine, alongside last season’s champions Manchester City.
