Inessa Kaagman scored eight goals in 22 WSL matches last season.

Brighton and Hove Albion are delighted to announce that midfielder Inessa Kaagman has signed a new one-year contract with the club, subject to WSL and FA clearance.

The 25-year-old Dutch international joined Albion in 2020 from WSL rivals Everton and finished top scorer last season with eight goals, helping Albion to a sixth-place finish, their highest in WSL history.

Inessa started her career with Ajax, making more than 100 appearances. She has been a regular in the Dutch national squad since making her debut against South Africa in 2019. She recently took part in the Tokyo Olympics as part of the Netherlands squad.

Head coach Hope Powell said, “Inessa has made such a big impression in her first season, and we're delighted she's agreed to be part of what we're trying to achieve at the club.

“Not only does she score goals, but she can play in a variety of positions and brings experience and calmness to the team. She is a great role model for the younger players and we feel she can have an even bigger impact with us. I'm looking forward to working with her again this season.”

Albion kick-off their WSL campaign on Sunday 5th September, when they face West Ham United at the Amex. Make sure you're there to show your support for Hope Powell's team, by ordering you tickets here.
