After a gap of more than two years The Robert Eaton Memorial Fund (REMF) will be hosting its 19th annual challenge match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace supporters on July 16.

Robert Eaton was a Brighton fan who died in the 9/11 Twin Towers attacks in New York in 2001. Soon after hearing the news, a group of Brighton fans set up a charity in his name to raise funds for children’s and youth sports projects across the world.

As part of the fundraising, an annual football match between the rival supporters has taken place ever since.

Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic meant the 2020 fixture - traditionally played in May - had to cancelled, so at the earliest opportunity Brighton and Palace fans will put their rivalry aside once more for this match.

Former Albion striker, Ricky Marlowe, now 70, and one of Robert’s favourite players will once again be playing for the Seagulls.

The match takes place at Worthing FC’s Woodside Road stadium on Friday 16 July, kick off 7.45pm.

Entry is £5 for adults, and £2 for under 16s (free if accompanied by an adult). All proceeds go to the Robert Eaton Memorial Fund, and everyone is welcome.
