Albion pile on defender Dan Burn after he netted the winner against Manchester City.

Dan Burn couldn’t hide his delight after scoring his first Premier League goal.

The defender capped a brilliant second-half fightback by Albion with the winning goal as his side came from 2-0 down to beat ten-man Manchester City 3-2.

It was also Burn’s first goal for three years and he feared it might have been ruled out for offside.

He said, “I’ve been waiting a long time for a Premier League goal. I’ve had a few cancelled out by VAR and to be honest I thought I might have been offside when I scored so I was delighted it went over the line and I got my first one.

Burn delighted to break PL duck

“It’s a huge result for us and to do it with fans back was fantastic. I think City are the best team in the world and have proved that over the years. Credit to the lads, I thought it was a brilliant performance by everyone.”

City led after two minutes through Ilkay Gundogan and despite having Joao Cancelo sent off in the 11th minute they doubled their advantage just after the break through Phil Foden.

“I feared the worst when we went 1-0 down after two minutes,” admitted Burn. “The sending off helped, but even with ten men they are a threat but I don’t think we would have come back from 2-0 down without the fans, it was massive. We conceded two poor goals from our point of view but the way we stuck at it was brilliant.”
