Defender Adam Webster says Albion are looking up the table rather than down as the season reaches its climax.
Saturday's 2-0 win over Leeds lifted them up to 14th and 37 points with four games to go but Webster believes Albion should already be in a higher position.
“It's not done yet in terms of making sure we stay up but Leeds was a massive result, a big step in the right direction,” he said.
“Obviously we'd rather be safe now and if you look at the season there a lot of games where we've played really well and there are probably three or four games more we should have won.

“We're probably disappointed we’re only at 37 points with four games to go and not in mid-table or looking at finishing in the top half.”
Albion have picked up 23 points from their last 17 games after accumulating 14 in their first 17. They head to Wolves on Sunday before home games against West Ham and Manchester City is followed by a trip to Arsenal on the final day of the season.
“We’ve come a long way, especially in the second half of the season and our form has been pretty good. Hopefully we can look up rather than down now and one aim is to beat last season’s points total (41). We’ve got some tough fixtures left but we’re playing well enough to do that.”
Key to that improved form in the second half of the campaign is Albion’s clean sheet record, especially at the Amex where they have had seven shutouts led by skipper Lewis Dunk, who is again being touted for an England recall after a string of impressive performances in the heart of Albion’s defence.
“He’s one of the best centre-backs in the country,” said Webster. “If he was playing for one of the really top clubs he’d definitely be in the squad. All he can do is keep performing at a really high level and hopefully he might get the call.”
