Hope Powell saw her side suffer a 3-2 defeat to Reading.

Hope Powell was delighted for Lee Geum-Min after she scored her first two goals for Albion in their 3-2 defeat to Reading in Sunday’s WSL game at the Madejski Stadium.

The South Korean striker, who is on loan from Manchester City, scored twice inside a minute including a stunning goal from 35 yards to make it 2-2 but the hosts scored early in the second half to seal a 3-2 win which lifted them above Albion into sixth place.

Powell said, “There were two great goals, especially the second one which will definitely be a Goal of the Season contender. We are all so pleased for Lee. She has waited a long time in the season to score her first goals for us but she works so hard every time she plays and you could tell by the celebrations how popular she is in the squad.”

Albion could still secure a top-half finish if they beat Bristol City at home in their final game next Sunday and Reading fail to beat leaders Chelsea.

“Bristol have a lot to play for as well because they are fighting to stay in the league so it’s going to be a tough game for us but we’re looking forward to trying to finish the season with a win.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t get anything today. We had a lot of chances in the second half to equalise and even win the game but that bit of quality we needed in the final third just wasn’t here unfortunately.

“It was a good game to watch, very open, and I thought we played well. We showed good character to come from two down and I thought the players deserved something for their efforts.”
