Danny Welbeck fires in his fifth goal of the campaign in emphatic style.

Danny Welbeck was proud of the way Albion played as they did the double over Leeds United.

Welbeck scored his fifth goal of the season to seal a 2-0 win at the Amex after Pascal Gross had scored a first-half penalty to put Albion in front.

“I am happy to get a goal in what was such an important game for us. As a team we're really happy and I am proud of the performance we put in against a tough opponent.

“It was a really intense game, but we had a plan that we stuck to and in the end executed it perfectly.

The relief was palpable at the Amex as Danny Welbeck's strike gave his side a deserved two-goal cushion.

“We could have had another goal before I scored because we created some good chances but once we got the second that put us in a good position.”

Welbeck's brilliant turn and finish was a goal of the season contender.

“It's one of those situations where you're looking around to see what solutions you've got to the situation.

“Once the ball is in there and I have seen where the defenders are, I was confident it would come off. You do it in training, so it’s nice to pull it off in a game. I am really pleased with the goal I enjoyed it.”

Albion moved up to 14th in the table after their eighth win of the season but Welbeck says there is still work to do.

“We haven’t done enough until we’re mathematically safe,” he said. “I have touched on it before that with the group of players we have I know we can do much better. It’s those marginal differences that highlight the harsh reality of the Premier League but I know we’ve got a group of players and staff that can achieve more.”
