Leandro Trossard has six goals in 35 appearances for Albion and Belgium this season.

Leandro Trossard’s impressive form in recent months has caught the eye of Graham Potter.

The 26-year-old has been involved in five goals in his last three starts for club and country, including two fine strikes in Albion’s wins over Southampton and Newcastle.

It hasn’t always been a straightforward path for Trossard, but his head coach is proud of his progress in recent months.

“He’s had a frustrating season. He might have scored a lot more goals, he has hit the post I don’t know how many times.

“But he’s getting in the areas, he’s making better decisions. He’s got a bit more confidence and arrogance – I mean that in a good way – in his game and ability. I am really pleased with his performance and influence in terms of goals and assists.

Potter's Man United press conference

“He knew he had to improve on that if you want to get into the Belgium side, if you want to go to that next stage in your career as a Premier League player. He’s a great lad who is working hard at his game and I am pleased he has made these steps.”

Albion are three points better off at this stage of the season than they were after the same amount of games (29) last year.

“It’s so difficult to compare [the two seasons] because we were going into this really strange situation after the lockdown a year or so ago with project restart.

“Then we got used to the situation in terms of empty stadiums. But as a team we’re better now, we’re stronger in every area, if you analyse our performance we’re better at everything. The group and the team are in a good place and we’re looking forward to our final nine matches.”
