Todd Miller's fine strike at West Brom put his side in the lead.

Albion under-18s made it six consecutive league wins on Saturday as they put West Brom to the sword on their own turf.

The win was the perfect preparation for Wednesday's FA Youth Cup fourth round tie back in the Midlands against Aston Villa.

Victories over Southampton, Arsenal, West Ham, Chelsea and Leicester had seen Albion average over three goals a game, a stat they couldn't match this time out, but one that won't worry head coach Mark Beard.

A lovely 60-yard diagonal pass from Odel Offiah for Casper Nilsson was fed into Todd Miller, who rifled an effort on the half-volley across the face of goal and into the bottom left corner after nine minutes to put Albion in the driving seat.

Matt Everitt's goal put the game to bed early on in the second half.

Despite their dominance, Albion headed in at the break with a single goal advantage, but after a frantic restart Matt Everitt got on the end of a through ball from Andy Moran and fired into the top left corner after 50 minutes, leaving West Brom keeper Maksymilian Boruc with no chance.

The result moved Albion up into second, two points behind leaders Crystal Palace in the Premier League South table.

All attention now turns to Wednesday night's game at Villa Park, kick off 7pm.

‎Professional development phase coach James Baxter said, “After we got the second goal, we were will structured and disciplined to see it out. It's a great way to head into Wednesday night’s FA Youth Cup match.

“It's rare to keep a clean sheet in academy football, but that's two on the bounce for us. Mark has been working hard on our shape out of possession, which has been paying dividends recently.

“We've got some good players in the team who we allow that freedom to go and create, so we're free flowing going forward and resolute at the back. The group has got a great spirit between staff and players, that's what is behind the run. It's a collective effort and we're all open with each other. We're reaping the rewards of that.”
