Dan Burn impressed in the first half at St Mary's but was withdrawn at half-time after tweaking his hamstring.

Albion are back in action on home soil on Saturday when they face Newcastle United, kick-off 8pm.

Graham Potter's men were 2-1 winners at Southampton in their last game on Sunday thanks to goals from Lewis Dunk and Leandro Trossard.

The skipper headed Albion into a first half lead before Saints drew level through Che Adams, but a free-flowing move 11 minutes after the restart saw Trossard finish stylishly to seal a big win.

That victory has moved Albion above this weekend's opponents, who drew 1-1 with Aston Villa in their last outing.

The Magpies trailed to a late own goal, but captain Jamaal Lascelles rescued a point for Steve Bruce's men in added time at St James' Park.

Albion and Newcastle have played each other 27 times dating back to 1930.

Tomorrow's hosts have won 11 of those, Newcastle nine and there have been seven draws.

Albion are unbeaten in all seven of their Premier League fixtures against this weekend's opponents although the last two meetings at the Amex have ended all square, including a 0-0 draw in the final home game last season.

The most recent meeting was a 3-0 success for Albion back in September thanks to a brace from Neal Maupay and a fine finish from Aaron Connolly.

The Newcastle Player to Watch…

Jamaal Lascelles fights for possession with Neal Maupay.

Jamaal Lascelles will be the man leading out Newcastle United on Saturday evening, with the centre-back proving not only his worth defensively, but also offensively in the Magpies' last Premier League outing.

Having gone behind in somewhat unfortunate circumstances against Aston Villa, the former Nottingham Forest defender crashed home a late equaliser to ensure the points were shared.

A part of the Newcastle side that was relegated in 2016, the 27-year-old played an integral role in their immediate promotion back to the Premier League and has more than helped his side maintain their top-tier status.
