Albion will play in the Premier League again next season.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s place in the Premier League for the 2019/20 season was secured this afternoon, following Cardiff City’s 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace.

The Bluebirds remain four points behind Chris Hughton’s side, who travel to Arsenal tomorrow afternoon, and have just one match remaining against Manchester United at Old Trafford next Sunday.

Albion manager Chris Hughton said, “We have achieved our main objective for the season, which was to retain our Premier League status. Now the challenge is to finish the season on a high, and produce the level of performance we know we can against Arsenal and Manchester City.

“While the last month or so has been tough, this group of players delivered what was required across the season and when it mattered, with that vital point away at Wolves and another at home to Newcastle last week.

“I’d like to thank the players, my staff, the directors and staff at the club, and our fans, who’ve really stuck with the team through a difficult patch. We knew togetherness would be the key and I’m proud to have seen that on and off the pitch across the season.”

Albion will now travel to the Emirates Stadium before welcoming Manchester City on the final day of the season, as they look to climb the league table, and also have a say in the race for the Premier League title.

It means the Seagulls will play top-flight football for a third consecutive campaign, with Cardiff joining Huddersfield Town and Fulham in the Sky Bet Championship next season.
