Focus Turns To Southampton And Chelsea

By James Hilsum • 25 March 2019

With a place in the Emirates FA Cup semi-final now secured for the first time in 36 years, Brighton & Hove Albion's focus returns back to the Premier League ahead of two crucial games against Southampton and Chelsea.

Southampton's visit to the Amex this coming Saturday is an opportunity for Chris Hughton's men to increase the five-point gap between themselves and the bottom three. Meanwhile, the Saints will be targeting points for the same reason, as they currently sit one place and three points below the Seagulls in the table.

A hectic April schedule then begins with a trip to Champions League chasing Chelsea. Albion ran Maurizio Sarri's side close in a 2-1 defeat at the Amex in December.

Albion chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber, said, "To have secured a place in the FA Cup semi-finals is a magnificent achievement by the players, Chris, his staff, and everyone at the club, but we mustn't forget that there is still plenty for us to play for in the Premier League.

"Everyone at the club is now turning their attention to two massive league games, and your brilliant ongoing support will continue to be crucial ahead of these final few weeks of the season."

Albion manager Chris Hughton added, "After the international break we will regroup for these two big games coming up, as we all know just how important it is for this club to stay in the Premier League.

"We are heading into these two games on the back of three very good results, and it is up to the players to show the same levels of character and determination in recent weeks once again.

"You, the fans, have been absolutely terrific during my time at this club, and we will need you again in these two upcoming games."

Tickets for the Southampton match have now sold out, but a number of tickets may become available through the season ticket exchange. Click here for more information.
