Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixtures were released earlier this week, and the Seagulls face two of last season’s top three teams in the opening month.

Hope Powell’s side open their home campaign against last season’s third-placed team Chelsea at The People’s Pension Stadium on Sunday 15th September.

Albion then travel to Meadow Park a fortnight later to play reigning champions Arsenal. In last season’s encounter in north London, the Seagulls took the lead through Ini Umotong and had a chance to double their advantage, but Kayleigh Green’s strike cannoned off the crossbar and the Gunners managed to seize the initiative to win the match.

Manchester City will provide the opposition in the last match before the Christmas break, with Albion travelling to the Academy Stadium to take on the current Continental Tyres and FA Cup holders.

It will be Albion’s third trip to City in 2019 following the WSL and Conti Cup matches in January.

Albion will not have to wait long in 2020 until they come up against one of these teams again, as Arsenal visit The People’s Pension Stadium on Sunday 12th January.

The match will mark Arsenal’s first league trip to Sussex since clinching the WSL title at the Amex last season, a match in which a domestic league record of 5,265 supporters were in attendance.

It isn’t until the run-in that Albion will come face-to-face with the league’s big guns again. A visit to Kingsmeadow to play Chelsea on Sunday 5th April, and starts the final two months of the season.

The campaign then closes with a home match against Manchester City on Saturday 16th May, in what could be an exciting end to the season.
