Midfielder Leaves For Russia

By Kieran Cleeves • 28 January 2019

Brighton & Hove Albion under-23 midfielder Mathias Normann has departed the club and joined Russian Premier League side FC Rostov on undisclosed terms.

Normann made 11 appearances for the Seagulls in the Premier League 2 Division 1 this season, after completing a loan spell at Norwegian top-tier side Molde FK during the 2017/18 campaign.

The 22-year-old, who initially signed for the Seagulls from FK Bodo/Glimt back in July 2017, also made two appearances for Simon Rusk’s team in the Checkatrade Trophy this season.

Rusk said, “It’s been enjoyable to work with Mathias during his time at the club, but this move makes sense for all parties involved, with it being an excellent move for him.

“After returning from his loan in Norway, Mathias has shown his qualities and played his part in helping the under-23s make a positive start to life in the top division.

“We wish Mathias all the best for his latest challenge in Russia, as he continues to build a career within the game.”

The Norwegian’s final outing for the Seagulls came in their final game of 2018, as they sealed a 4-2 victory over West Ham United at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
