Ben Barclay heads to Notts County while Ben Hall returns to the south coast.

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben Barclay is joining League Two Notts County on loan until the end of the season, with his under-23 colleague Ben Hall returning from his loan at Meadow Lane.

It’s Manchester-born Barclay’s first loan move away from Albion, having joined the club from Manchester City in 2013.

Albion boss Chris Hughton said, “This is a good move for Ben, and a great opportunity for him to gain his first taste of regular senior football with Notts County.

“He has been in and around the first-team environment during pre-season and the first half of the season, and the chance to go and play first-team football will be ideal for his development.”

The 22-year-old was part of Albion’s 25-man Premier League squad during the first half of the season, and made his first-team debut against Southampton in the Carabao Cup second round tie at the Amex.

He also featured in all three Checkatrade Trophy ties, as Simon Rusk’s side narrowly missed out on advancing through to the knock-out stages of the competition.

Barclay was part of the under-23 side who won promotion to Division One of the Premier League 2 last season, and has been a regular in the side this term.

Hall, who joined Notts County last January and returned to Meadow Lane in the summer, hasn’t featured this season due to injury. He returns to Albion to continue his rehabilitation work.
