New Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Tudor Baluta couldn’t hide his delight after signing a three-year deal with the Seagulls.

The 19-year-old will remain with FC Viitorul Constanta in Romania’s top flight for the rest of the current campaign but is eager to get back on the south coast and begin plying his trade for his new club.

He said, “I’m very happy to be here – it’s a great day for me and to decide to be part of this club is the best decision that I’ve made.

“I’m really happy and can’t wait to get started in the summer, I chose the club because of the facilities and everything here.

“The training ground, the staff, the first team, the stadium – everything is incredible, and I think I’ve made the right decision.”

“It’s always been my dream to play in England and now I’m close to doing that, I can’t wait to play for the team.”

The Romanian international revealed that he’s comfortable playing both in midfield and as part of a back four, as well as reflecting on his decision to move to England.

“I always watch the Premier League and the football is amazing – there’s so much quality and good players, the sides are amazing and there are always unpredictable games, it’s very beautiful and I’m eager to play.

“I’m quite a versatile player and can play both in midfielder and defence, for me it’s important to develop as much as I can.

“I want to help the team as much as I can alongside that.”

Baluta has made 15 top-flight appearances so far this term, finding the back of the net twice, as well as making his senior debut for his country towards the end of 2018 – a moment he reflected on fondly.

“I want to play as much as possible – so far the season has gone very well for me back in Romania and on Sunday we have the first game of the latter half of the campaign.

“Between now and the end of the campaign I want to do as well as possible, I’ve made my international debut back in October and that was a great moment for me.

“My family were really proud for me to play for Romania at such a young age, that’s something I want to continue to do, they’re also delighted with this move here and at the moment everything is going well.”
