Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Gross feels he has rediscovered his best form in recent weeks, and feels the side can be proud of their performances over the past few weeks.
Gross has enjoyed a sustained spell back in the team after recovering from an ankle injury, and spoke about his confident displays on the pitch.
He said, “I feel very good; I think the last few games have been brilliant. I feel like I am having opportunities to score and make assists too. My ankle is perfect and I’m feeling free and powerful.
“We have also improved as a team and are playing very well; every player is improving technically and tactically. But it’s all about Saturday now, which is a very important game.
“It’s a massive game for us, and it’s another chance for us at home with our fans to get three important points.”
The German also spoke about his new deeper-lying role in the team this season, and has been delighted with the number of chances he’s managed to create in the past few games.
“Recently we’ve played 4-3-3 a bit more and I’ve been in the number eight position. I’m used to playing in this position from my time in Germany, but I’m fine with playing anywhere.
“My biggest strength has always been to create chances and that’s always been my best quality. I do it a lot and work hard.
“I create chances and that’s why I train every day. I try to bring my team-mates into good positions to score goals, and help the team whenever I can.
“Scoring a goal is a great feeling, but for me making an assist is almost as good. If I make an assist, and one of my team-mates scores to win the game, then I’m really happy.
“My job is to create chances, as that’s my strength, so I’m always very pleased to assist a
Gross was also pleased to see Florin Andone and Glenn Murray on the scoresheet on Wednesday evening in the win over West Bromwich Albion, and highlighted the importance of the whole squad playing their part over the course of the campaign.
“Florin scored again, as did Glenn, which is very positive and we need everyone to achieve our goals and I’m very pleased that we have such a big squad."
