Brighton & Hove Albion under-23 forward Viktor Gyokeres has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for March.
The Swede played every minute during Albion’s unbeaten month, which included a 2-1 victory over Derby County and a 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers in Lancashire.
Gyokeres caught the eye against Rovers at the Leyland County Ground, claiming both assists for Max Sanders’s brace, which put the Seagulls 2-0 ahead before Blackburn’s second-half fightback.
The striker ended the month on international duty with Sweden’s under-21s, playing 85 minutes in their friendly against Russia in Marbella.
Gyokeres has already been nominated for the PL2 Player of the Month award this season, but lost out to Reading’s Danny Loader back in August 2018.
Providing competition for the award this time around are the following players: Lewis Gibson (Everton), Adam Idah (Norwich City), Tre Pemberton (Stoke City), Morgan Rogers (West Bromwich Albion) and Daniel Kemp (West Ham United).
The six-man shortlist was decided by the league’s football development panel, after each Premier League 2 manager nominated the best performance by an opposing player in each of their matches throughout the month.
The winner will be announced at 11am on Friday 12th April.
