The American Express Community Stadium will host the Sussex Senior Challenge Cup Final for a ninth season in a row when Bognor Regis Town take on Burgess Hill Town on Tuesday 7th May, kick-off 7.45pm.
Brighton & Hove Albion were one step away from reaching a third final in as many years, but Bognor’s impressive display against the Seagulls on Tuesday evening secured their place at the Amex.
Bognor will be looking to win the Senior Cup for the first time since their last triumph in 1987, while Burgess Hill’s three successes came back in the 1800’s, when they reached the opening four finals, which were then played at Preston Park.
The two clubs compete alongside one another in the Bostik Premier Division, and the Rocks boast an impress record against the Hillians this season, winning 8-0 at Nyewood Lane before a 2-0 victory at Leylands Park.
Bognor have played in two of the eight finals to take place at the Amex since the first in 2011, but the Rocks lost on both occasions — 4-0 against the Seagulls and 3-0 versus Peacehaven & Telscombe.
Ken Benham, Chief Executive of the Sussex County FA, said, “We’re delighted to be able to hold the final of the Sussex Senior Challenge Cup at the Amex Stadium again this season.
“Like the last few years, the final will be held on a midweek evening, which is normal for the competition with games in previous rounds taking place then, so it’s not altogether different for Sussex football fans.
“An evening match at the Amex is always a special atmosphere, couple that with the fact it is a cup final between two well-established and well-supported non-league Sussex sides, it should be a fantastic night and we are very much looking forward to it!
“Our thanks go to Brighton & Hove Albion for the use of their brilliant stadium to host the final."
Ticket information for the game will be announced in due course.
