  • Brighton are next in action against Leicester City on 15th September
Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18s were edged out 3-2 by Reading at the Hogwood Park Training Ground.

Laurent Tolaj got the Seagulls off to a flying start with just 11 minutes played, as he fired home from close range after latching onto a Jack Spong cross.

Albion almost doubled their advantage a few minutes later when Cameron Tutt played in a brilliant through ball for Tolaj to set up Matthew Everitt, but the latter’s effort went just wide.

The Seagulls were left to rue that missed opportunity when Jack Pembleton brought parity to the scoreline in the 22nd minute, before Thierry Nevers turned the game on its head to make it 2-1 to the Royals with half an hour played.

Khalid Simmo made it 3-1 to the hosts ten minutes after the re-start from Terence Saydee’s assist, allowing the hosts to gain a two-goal cushion.

Stefan Vukoje and Sam Packham both had chances to reduce the deficit, but Tareiq Shihab had the final word of the game when he slotted home from Jack Spong’s corner to make the final score 3-2.

ALBION: Rees; Tanimowo, Weaire, Clark-Eden, Tutt; Everitt (Shihab 75), Packham, Spong, Onen; Vukoje (Carre 60), Tolaj (Cashman 59).
