LOAN ROUND-UP: NORWOOD AND MAGUIRE-DREW FIND THE NET

Oliver Norwood celebrates his goal in Sheffield United's 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Several Brighton & Hove Albion loan players were in action across the weekend, with two getting themselves on the scoresheet.

Oliver Norwood scored his first goal for Sheffield United since joining the Blades on loan last month, as he notched the side’s second in a 4-1 win over Aston Villa at Brammal Lane, picking up the Man of the Match award in the process.

It was the third time in as many home matches that Norwood has picked up the accolade and the result keeps Chris Wilder’s side in third position in the Sky Bet Championship.

In the same division, Christian Walton kept his second clean sheet of the campaign for Wigan Athletic in a 1-0 win over Rotherham United at the DW Stadium – a contest which also saw fellow Albion loanee Richie Towell make an appearance as a second-half substitute for the Millers.

Tomer Hemed and QPR played out a 0-0 draw with Birmingham City at St Andrew’s, Steven Alzate and Swindon Town also picked up a point against MK Dons in Sky Bet League One at the County Ground, and Robert Sanchez’s Forest Green Rovers stayed inside the Sky Bet League Two play-off positions with a 3-1 win over Notts County at Meadow Lane.

Jordan Maguire-Drew also found the back of the net in the Vanarama National League for Wrexham in a 2-0 win over Aldershot Town at the Racecourse Ground to take the Welsh side top of the table.

Further abroad, Percy Tau and Union St Gilloise fell to a 1-0 defeat away to Beerschot Wilrijk in the Belgian First Division and Ales Mateju and Brescia were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline against Spezia in Serie B on Friday evening.
