Brett Ready For Bristol Reunion

By James Hilsum • 05 September 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Jodie Brett cannot wait to open the club’s FA Women’s Super League season against former club Bristol City this Sunday, kick-off 2pm.

The 22-year-old had a memorable loan spell with the Robins during her time at Chelsea, and was part of the squad that secured promotion to FA Women’s Super League One in 2016.

She said, “All the girls, staff and fans were great to me and it was such a fantastic experience. I felt at home straightaway and the club has a special place in my heart.

“It will be good to kick off the season and see some familiar faces beforehand, but as soon that whistle goes at the beginning of the game, I won’t think about that at all.”

The midfielder highlighted what Albion can expect from their opponents and revealed her excitement at playing in the club's first-ever top-flight game at the Broadfield Stadium.

“Bristol have a passing style of play and like to keep the ball on the floor. They’ve got a great bunch of girls too, which contributes to a great team spirit. They always work hard for each other.

“This game is what we’ve all been working towards after what’s been a tough pre-season and it’s great to kick off the season at home.”

“It will be great to begin our league season at Crawley. We had a pre-season game there, which was a good taster for us. The facilities are great, and we are all eager to get out there and perform.”

Brett was one of six new signings this summer, and commented on the seamless way she has slotted into the squad.

“It’s been really good, all the girls have welcomed me in straightaway and having a number of other new players has made it a very easy transition for me.

“There’s a proper buzz around the camp and we’re just excited to kick off the league season.

“We know it’s going to be tough, but for us as a club and squad going forward, we can only take it game by game, so as long as the performances are there, the results will take care of themselves.”
