Royal Union Saint-Gilloise
Albion striker Percy Tau celebrates with supporters in Belgium.

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Percy Tau scored his second league goal in Belgian football and also claimed an assist in Union St Gillosie’s 3-2 win over Tubize on Saturday.

The home side found themselves 2-0 down with ten minutes to go, but goals from Youssouf Niakate and Roman Ferber got the home side back on level terms, before the South African’s dramatic late winner sealed a fine comeback victory on home soil to leave the side in second place in the Belgian First Division.

Under-23 midfielder Steven Alzate was also on target over the weekend, as he scored his second goal of the season as Swindon Town beat Notts County at Meadow Lane.

Kane Hemmings had fired the hosts ahead but Alzate’s stylish run and finish was added to by an own goal ten minutes from time that meant the Robins moved up to 13th.

In the Sky Bet Championship, Tomer Hemed and QPR won 1-0 against Aston Villa at Loftus Road on Friday night thanks to a first-half goal from Pawel Wszolek.

The result made it five matches unbeaten in the league as Steve McClaren’s side move up to tenth ahead of a trip to face Blackburn Rovers this Saturday.

In the same division, Christian Walton and Oliver Norwood crossed paths at Brammal Lane, with the latter’s side coming out on top with a 4-2 victory, as Sheffield United defeated Wigan Athletic. Billy Sharp’s hat-trick gave Chris Wilder’s side a victory which moves them to the top of the table, whilst Walton and the Latics occupy 14th..

Elsewhere in the second tier, Richie Towell and Rotherham United drew 1-1 with Preston North End at Deepdale to make it three matches unbeaten in the Championship.

Tom Barkhuizen had given the home side a first-half advantage, before Michael Smith struck ten minutes after the break to earn the Millers a share of the spoils.

In Sky Bet League Two, Robert Sanchez and Forest Green Rovers picked up a 2-1 win away to Exeter City thanks to goals from Reece Brown and Liam Shephard. It’s a victory that means Mark Cooper’s men sit sixth, inside the play-off positions.

Ajes Mateju and Billy Arce were both in second-tier action in Italy and Spain respectively, with the former coming on as a late substitute in Brescia’s 1-0 home win over Cosenza in Serie B. The latter was also a second-half substitute, this time in Extremadura UD’s 2-1 home defeat to Albacete in Spain’s Segunda Division.

In non-league, defender Joe Tomlinson and Bognor Regis Town played out a 2-2 draw away to Bracknell Town in the FA Trophy, and the two sides will contest a replay tomorrow evening at Nyewood Lane.

Goalkeeper Tom McGill also featured in the FA Trophy, and he helped Greenwich Borough to an 4-2 victory after extra time against Mildenhall Town to progress to the next round.
