Tomer Hemed heads QPR into the lead against Sheffield Wednesday.

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed notched his second goal in as many matches for Queens Park Rangers, opening the scoring in the side’s 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday last night at Loftus Road.

The Israeli forward headed Steve McClaren’s men into a first half lead, before goals from Luke Freeman and Nahki Wells sealed a fourth straight victory that moves the west London side up to 11th in the Sky Bet Championship.

In the same division, Oliver Norwood played the entirety of Sheffield United’s 1-1 draw at home to Stoke City.

Leon Clarke had given the home side a lead 20 minutes from time, but Joe Allen’s late equaliser meant the spoils were shared – Chris Wilder’s side sit joint second at the top of the table with Middlesbrough leading on goal difference.

In the north east, Richie Towell’s Rotherham United drew 0-0 away to the aforementioned league leaders at the Riverside Stadium, and Paul Warne’s side travel to face Preston North End at Deepdale on Saturday afternoon.

Christian Walton lost 2-1 away to Millwall with Wigan Athletic – an own goal from Jed Wallace had given the Latics the lead in south London but second-half goals from Shaun Williams and Steve Morison meant the hosts ran out eventual 2-1 winners at the Den.

Finally, in Sky Bet League Two, Steven Alzate’s Swindon Town lost 2-0 at home to Cambridge United at the County Ground, with Phil Brown’s side travelling to Notts County at Meadow Lane at the weekend.
