Tomer Hemed celebrates his penalty against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon.

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed scored his second goal of the season for Queens Park Rangers in their 2-0 win away to Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon at Portman Road.

The Israeli forward found the net from the spot as Steve McClaren’s side picked up their third away victory of the Sky Bet Championship campaign in East Anglia, taking their unbeaten run to three matches ahead of tomorrow night’s game with Sheffield Wednesday at Loftus Road.

In the same division, Christian Walton’s fifth clean sheet of the campaign helped Wigan Athletic to a 1-0 victory over high-flying West Bromwich Albion at the DW Stadium.

A strike after half-time from Josh Windass was enough for Paul Cook’s men to seal all three points, and they travel to Millwall tomorrow evening sitting one point outside the play-off places in eighth position.

Richie Towell also played the 90 minutes of Rotherham United’s 1-1 draw at home to Bolton Wanderers at the AESSEAL New York Stadium, with Paul Warne’s side making the trip to league leaders Middlesbrough tomorrow evening.

Oliver Norwood’s Sheffield United lost 2-1 to Derby County. The Northern Irish midfielder played the entirety of the contest, and it’s a result that leaves them second in the table, level on points with Middlesbrough at the top of the league as they host Stoke City tomorrow night at Bramall Lane.

In Sky Bet League One, Robert Sanchez endured a hectic afternoon against Cheltenham Town at the New Lawn, as the sides played out a 1-1 draw in the Gloucestershire derby.

The on-loan Albion keeper conceded a penalty when he brought down Tyrone Barnett, before picking himself to save Luke Varney’s spot-kick moments later with a fine stop. Unfortunately for the Spaniard, Barnett scored the rebound before Mark Cooper’s men earned a share of the spoils and host Tranmere Rovers tomorrow night.

In the same division, Steven Alzate played 90 mins of a 0-0 draw at home to Mansfield Town – the Robins sit 12th in the table and host Cambridge United at the County Ground on Tuesday evening.

Abroad, Percy Tau played 89 minutes of Union St Gilloise’s 1-1 draw away to Roeselare – with the Belgian second division side sat in third position, one point off the top of the table.

In non-league, Jordan Maguire Drew was a late substitute for Wrexham in their 0-0 draw away to Harrogate Town.

The Welsh side face their fellow Vanarama National League opponents in an Emirates FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay tomorrow evening as a result, whilst defender Joe Tomlinson played in a 0-0 draw at home to Margate for Bognor Regis Town, with the Rocks occupying fourth place in the Bostik Premier Division.

Tom McGill was also in action for Greenwich Borough, but the Albion shot-stopper was on the receiving end of a 2-1 defeat at home to Ramsgate.
