Shane Duffy applauds the Irish supporters at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Shane Duffy has earned his 18th international cap while playing for the club, beating the all-time record set by Gerry Ryan and Steve Penney.

Duffy lined up for the Republic of Ireland against Wales this evening, which took the 26-year-old to 18 caps during his time with the Seagulls, after equalling the appearance record in the UEFA Nations League match against Denmark on Saturday.

The defender can take his total to 20 before the end of the year, with Ireland set to meet Northern Ireland in a friendly next month before another UEFA Nations League clash against Denmark in Aarhus.
