Brighton & Hove Albion defensive duo Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy spoke of their admiration for one another after both signing new five-year deals on Friday afternoon.
The central defensive partnership have become a mainstay for Chris Hughton’s side over recent seasons, and they praised one another's abilities after putting pen to paper on their respective new long-term contracts.
Shane Duffy on Lewis Dunk
“I’m delighted for Lewis because he’s helped me a lot, and he’s a big player for this club.
“I was excited to play alongside him when I arrived, and he’s got the potential to go higher, so I’m delighted he’s committed his future to the club.
“The two of us have a partnership that works well, when we got on the pitch together we clicked straight away, and it’s grown from there – we’re close off the field now too and that helps when you step out over the line.”

“I’m buzzing; he's done very well since he came to this club.
“We got promoted in his first year here, and we’ve had a great partnership ever since. We understand each other very well, our games suit each other and I’m so happy that he’s staying here for another five years.
“Our styles are a little bit different, but we just understand each other so well, and we know if one of us moves, the other will be there to cover.
“It’s that mutual understanding which has helped us a lot.”
