Ryan Wins Pfa October Award

By James Hilsum • 05 November 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Maty Ryan has won the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Award for October.

Ryan pipped Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the accolade by the tightest of margins after both gained 19.9% of the vote, but the Australian claimed the prize after playing more Premier League minutes last month.

The Seagulls shot-stopper enjoyed a brilliant month after keeping three clean sheets in the 1-0 wins over West Ham United, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively.

Only a handful of votes separated the four other nominees, which included Albion defender Shane Duffy, Fernandinho (Manchester City), Ross Barkley (Chelsea), and Anthony Martial (Manchester United).

Ryan is still in contention to win another prize this month, after being nominated for the EA Sports Player of the Month award for October. The voting runs until 11.59pm tonight.
