Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp felt Liverpool had a perfect end to the season after Sunday’s 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

A goal each from Mohamed Salah, Dejan Lovren, Dominic Solanke and Andrew Robertson secured the three points, and Klopp was delighted with his side’s return to winning ways after a difficult run of form.

He said, “It’s a perfect final [day] of the season, of a very exciting season, a very intense season.

“We showed the kind of football we couldn’t show in the last few games, because the boys are humans, not machines.

“Flying through Europe, playing there, then playing the likes of Everton, West Brom, Stoke and Chelsea, is really hard.

“I am so pleased and so happy for the boys that they showed up again after one week of training, [at] not the highest intensity of course, just the things we thought make sense, and then having a game like this is really nice.”

Klopp also praised Albion for their achievements this season and his own players for guaranteeing Champions League qualification for next season.

“We could have scored more, I think we didn’t take our biggest chances, but I’m really happy we didn’t because Brighton wouldn’t have deserved that. Chris [Hughton] and his staff did such a good job.

“They didn’t have any pressure and we had a lot, but I’m really happy about the result.

“I am really, really happy and really proud of the boys because they gave everything in the season and now we have two weeks to prepare for another big game.”
