Izquierdo Named In Provisional World Cup Squad

By Alex Stedman • 15 May 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Jose Izquierdo has been named in Colombia’s provisional 35-man squad ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

The Albion winger netted five times and provided three assists during an eye-catching first campaign in England with the Seagulls – including two goal of the season contenders against West Ham United and Stoke City respectively.

Having represented his country against France in Paris and then Australia at Craven Cottage during the last international break back in March, the Seagulls wideman will be hoping that those performances earn him a place on the plane to Russia next month for the biggest competition in world football.

Izquierdo is joined in the provisional squad by Arsenal’s David Ospina and Davison Sanchez of Tottenham Hotspur, with Jose Pekerman’s side facing Japan, Poland and Senegal in the group stages of the competition, which gets underway on 14th June.
