Defensive Duo In International Action

By Alex Stedman • 29 May 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion defenders Leon Balogun and Shane Duffy were both in international action for their respective countries on Monday evening.

Having arrived at the Albion last week, Balogun flew straight back out to Nigeria to link up with the Super Eagles ahead of their World Cup campaign next month, as they hosted DR Congo in an international friendly.

The defender played 66 minutes of the 1-1 draw before being replaced by Chelsea's Kenneth Omeruo - the Seagulls' first summer arrival was joined by fellow Premier League players Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Benik Afobe for the game in the country's capital, Port Harcourt.

Elsewhere yesterday evening, the Republic of Ireland travelled to Paris to face France, but Martin O'Neill's men slipped to a 2-0 defeat with Duffy playing the entire contest against Didier Deschamps' men.
