Jurgen Locadia, Ezequiel Schelotto and Leonardo Ulloa in action for Albion this season.

As Brighton & Hove Albion prepared for their first season in the Premier League, recruitment was always going to play a part in the club’s battle to compete in England’s top flight - and here’s a look at how some of the newest arrivals have taken to life on the south coast.

Jurgen Locadia

The club-record signing from PSV Eindhoven has hit the ground running with two goals in his opening two matches - his first coming against Coventry City before also scoring at home to Swansea City in the Premier League.

However, the striker has been kept out of the starting line-up by Glenn Murray since arriving at the club, with the 34-year-old scoring five goals in five league matches.

Locadia will no doubt get his chance over the course of the remaining nine league games of the season, while also helping the club in its quest for an FA Cup semi-final spot.

Ezequiel Schelotto

The Argentine has shown immense desire to surge forward from a full-back position since establishing himself in Albion’s starting line-up since the turn of the year.

Schelotto found opportunities limited after arriving from Sporting Lisbon, but a string of impressive performances have kept club captain Bruno out of the team in recent weeks.

The right-back has become a favourite with the club’s supporters, and has recorded an average pass completion rate in the opposition half of just under 70% from his 14 league appearances.

Leonardo Ulloa

Similar to Locadia, the Argentine striker has taken a place on Albion’s bench since arriving from Leicester City on loan until the end of the season.

His three substitute appearances came against Southampton, West Ham United and Stoke City, but he scored on his only start since returning - heading home against Coventry City in the FA Cup.

Ulloa’s arrival has added to the competition for a forward position in Chris Hughton’s team, and the striker will surely get his chance to contribute in front of goal as the season approaches its conclusion.
