Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s enjoyed a successful season as they gained promotion to the Premier League 2 Division 1 and won the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup, and here’s a breakdown of the 2017/18 campaign in numbers.

Simon Rusk’s team ended the season with an 18-game unbeaten run - within 90 minutes - across all competitions.

The Seagulls scored in 37 of their 40 matches - only failing to find the back of the net in league games against Newcastle United and Aston Villa, and MK Dons in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Three or more goals were scored by Albion on 15 occasions - with the regular league season ending with Rusk’s team scoring five goals in three consecutive matches.

Albion kept 13 clean sheets across all competitions - with ten of those coming in the 16 matches played in 2018.

In total, the Seagulls scored 89 goals in 40 matches, which works out at 2.23 goals scored per game.

Viktor Gyokeres ended the season with 11 goals from his 15 appearances for the Seagulls - scoring in ten separate matches since his debut in January 2018.

Henrik Bjordal’s two goals in the play-off matches at the end of the season moved him one goal ahead of Aaron Connolly - finishing the campaign as top goalscorer on 13 strikes.

Connolly fired the only hat-trick for the Seagulls during the 2017/18 campaign, as he hit the back of the net three times against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
