Keto: Albion Ideal Place For Development

By James Hilsum • 10 July 2018

New Brighton & Hove Albion under-23 goalkeeper Hugo Keto believes the club is the ideal place to continue his development.

The 20-year-old penned a two-year contract with the Seagulls and explained how the move south was the perfect next step following his release from Arsenal.

He said, “I was at Arsenal for four years and was then told that they weren’t going to give me a contract.

“I started looking at other places to go and my goalkeeping coach at Arsenal knew the Brighton goalkeeping coaches quite well. They looked at my clips and liked what they saw.

“I came over for a week’s training in April and they told me after that week that they would like to sign me.

“It’s a great club with great staff and great facilities and it has everything you need as a footballer. That’s what made me choose Brighton.”

The Finland under-21 international was pleased to see Simon Rusk’s side win promotion last season and kept a keen eye on their progress once a potential move was on the table.

“When I got the idea that I might be joining Brighton, I followed the under-23s quite closely last season.

“I was very happy to see them go up because I knew it would give me game time in the top flight.

“It’s a very exciting move for me because they have a good plan for all the young goalkeepers at this club.

“I was very happy with how my time went at Arsenal, but I am very happy to join Brighton now. It’s a fantastic club for a young goalkeeper.”
