By Alex Stedman • 03 July 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Jose Izquierdo’s Colombia side are set to face England in the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup this evening.

The midfielder’s country meet Gareth Southgate’s team at the Spartak Stadium in Moscow in the first knockout stage of the competition, with a game against either Sweden or Switzerland awaiting the winner in the quarter-final stage.

Jose Pekerman’s side advanced from Group H as winners after victories over Senegal and Poland in their final two group matches, whilst England finished runners-up to Belgium in Group G following wins over Tunisia and Panama in their first two matches of the competition.

Izquierdo played 70 minutes of the side’s opening game against Japan and has been an unused substitute in the other two matches the team have played in the tournament so far.

Albion fans can see how the midfielder and his nation fare against England on ITV this evening with kick-off at 7pm.
