Albion Sign Former Sunderland Defender

By James Hilsum • 31 July 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of defender Victoria Williams.

The 28-year-old arrives on a free transfer following the end of her contract at Sunderland, and has signed a one-year deal.

Women’s first-team manager Hope Powell said, “We are delighted to welcome Victoria to the club.

“She is someone with plenty of experience, having played at the top level for Chelsea, and will add to our defensive options.

“Her versatility will also prove to be very useful, as she can play anywhere across the back line.

“I am very much looking forward to working with her this season.”

Williams previously played in FA Women’s Super League 1 for Chelsea, before moving on to Doncaster Rovers Belles and Sunderland.

The defender has also represented England at youth team level, and has been capped up to the under-23s.
