U23 Preview: Whitehawk V Albion

By Kieran Cleeves • 23 January 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s continue their defence of the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup this evening, as they take on Whitehawk in the quarter-finals at The TerraPura Ground, kick-off 7.45pm.

The Seagulls progressed to the final eight after victories over East Preston and Haywards Heath Town in previous rounds - coming from behind to win on both occasions.

Jordan Davies scored the winning goal for Simon Rusk’s team at the Hanbury Stadium, after Henrik Bjordal cancelled out Karly Akehurst’s opener for the Blues.

Whitehawk reached the quarter-finals after beating Eastbourne Town and Three Bridges, and will be looking to go one round further than last season, when Crawley Town knocked the Hawks out of the competition.

Albion went on to beat Crawley in the final at the Amex, and Rusk’s side will be looking to retain the trophy, as they continue their quest against their south-coast neighbours.

Supporters can follow a live text blog from this evening’s game on the Match Centre, with a report being published after the full-time whistle.
