A number of Brighton & Hove Albion players were in action for their respective loan clubs over the New Year period, including Christian Walton, who secured his sixth consecutive clean sheet since returning to Wigan Athletic.

The Albion shot-stopper travelled back to the DW Stadium after recovering from injury on the south coast, and was involved in back-to-back 0-0 draws against Shrewsbury Town and Charlton Athletic, and a 1-0 win over Northampton Town.

Richie Towell played the full 90 minutes in both of Rotherham United’s games either side of New Year’s Eve, as the Millers won 2-1 at Walsall and drew 1-1 agBlackburn Rovers.

Albion under-23 defender Ben White made his 24th and 25th appearance for Newport County, laying on the assist for the Exiles’ opening goal in their 1-1 draw against Cheltenham Town.

White then played his part in a 2-1 victory over Exeter City at Rodney Parade, which moved Newport into 11th position in the League Two table.

In non-league, Reece Meekums featured in an eye-catching 4-0 away victory for Adam Hinshelwood’s team over Merstham at the Bibby Financial Services Stadium.
