Brighton & Hove Albion under-23 defender Ben White featured for Newport County in their 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium last night.
The 20-year-old was a doubt for the Emirates FA Cup tie against Spurs, after missing Newport’s League Two fixture against Colchester United - but White returned and played 77 minutes at England’s national stadium.
The youngster helped the Exiles to a 1-1 draw against the north London club at Rodney Parade, against the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, which set up a dream tie against Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
But an own goal in the 26th minute put the League Two club on the back foot, before Eric Lamela doubled the hosts’ advantage - ending White’s run in the competition.
Despite exiting the competition, White fulfilled a footballing dream to play at Wembley Stadium, and added to his impressive collection of appearances for the Welsh club this season.
The defender made his 37th appearance of the campaign - 28 of which came in League Two, where Newport occupy 11th position, five points off the final play-off spot.
