Brighton & Hove Albion striker Glenn Murray has stressed that the Swansea City side the Seagulls face at the Amex tomorrow will be a different one to the opposition in November.
The Welsh side arrive on the south-coast unbeaten in their last 10 matches in all competitions, and the forward explained that the Swans will head into the match full of confidence.
He said, “They will be a different beast to the one we faced back in November, they’ve had the managerial change and a huge upturn in form.
“It’s almost like a different team and they’ll have more belief now with their recent form, so we have to respect them and then do our best to beat them.
“On the flipside I think we have consistency here with the manager, he came in and got us out a tricky spot and then got us promoted. In those two years in the Championship, the club was used to winning on a regular basis and he managed to keep everyone grounded.
“The step into this league is different – that’s because we have a tougher task now and to get the players up every week when they’re using to winning, isn’t easy and he’s done both very well.”
Hughton’s men are also on a good run of form themselves, unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions. Murray emphasised the importance of continuing that sequence of results on home soil this weekend.
“It’s been a good run for the squad, and it’s nice to be progressing on two fronts both in the cup and the league.
“It’s been a good period with a good points haul – we need a big performance against a resurgent Swansea side, because they’ll be confident in their current form.
“We know what we need to do at home and hopefully the fans can spur us on again.
The striker’s opening goal last time out in the Premier League at the Amex Stadium came in the 3-1 win over West Ham United, and moved him onto double figures for the season.
Jurgen Locadia and Leonardo Ulloa both started the game with Coventry City last Saturday and got themselves on the scoresheet – and the Englishman relishes the competition in the attacking areas.
“I feel like so far I’ve done well – I’ve got a few goals and missed a few, but I think it has been a successful campaign.
“The two new arrivals in January have spurred me on because there’s new people ready to make the position their own.
“But it’s also something that I’ve experienced before – I feel like we can all work together and I think I’m adaptable striker no matter who I play alongside.”
