Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18s shared the spoils with Fulham in a 1-1 draw at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre on Saturday.

Isaac Hutchinson gave Albion the lead before Danny Cashman was shown a red card for giving away a penalty, and Ryan De Havilland equalised from the spot to claim a share of the spoils for Fulham.

The Seagulls created their first chance inside the opening three minutes when Hutchinson delivered a ball into the path of Matt Weaire, but Fulham keeper George Wickens made a comfortable save.

The Cottagers created their first opening after De Havilland curled a free kick into the path of Ben Davis, who fired his attempt over the crossbar.

Stefan Ljubicic was next to come close for Albion with a long-range effort that took a deflection, but Wickens did brilliantly to make a save at his near post.

Albion did make the breakthrough thanks to Hutchinson, who took advantage of some sloppy Fulham defending and fired home beyond Wickens with 26 minutes on the clock.

Ljubicic then had a brilliant chance to double Albion’s advantage after latching onto Jayden Onen’s through ball, but he blazed his effort over the crossbar.

Albion lost their lead and a player with 33 minutes gone, as Cashman was shown a straight red card for pushing Fabio Carvalho over inside the box.

De Havilland took the subsequent penalty and shot down to the left-hand side to level the scores.

The midfielder had two further opportunities to turn the game on its head, as he shot just wide of the post before shooting over the bar from a separate chance.

Nicolas Santos-Clase came off the bench for the visitors and played a ball towards Timmy Abraham, whose shot took a deflection and clipped the top of the post.

The substitute could have scored himself, but his shot rebounded off Abraham before going wide, and the points were shared.
