Locadia In Squad To Face Stoke City

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has confirmed that club-record signing Jurgen Locadia will be in the squad that travels to face Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

The January arrival from PSV Eindhoven has spent his first few weeks as a Seagulls player on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury picked up back in December, but will be back fit for the visit to the Potters.

He said, “He will be in the squad for Saturday, and he’s had a good week and a half of training.

“Some players can fit straight back into a side having been out through injury, and others can’t, but the most important thing for us is that he’s now fit and available.”

“It’s great to have him back in the squad – we accepted we took him with the injury but we brought him in because he’ll give us an offensive threat and he’s got a good record of scoring goals.”

The Dutchman’s arrival at Albion in the transfer window was followed by Leonardo Ulloa’s loan move from Leicester City, and with Glenn Murray having scored three goals in his last three matches, the boss stressed that his options in attacking areas was a welcome problem to have.

“I knew I wanted to bring in further options in the attacking areas and I knew that would give me a selection headache.

“It’s a nice problem for me to have now and I have some difficult decisions to make.”
