Knockaert: We All Did Our Jobs Well

By Alex Stedman • 26 February 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Anthony Knockaert praised the whole team effort, after the side's emphatic 4-1 win over Swansea City at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Frenchman notched his third goal of the campaign with the third strike of the win to take the Seagulls on to 31 points in the Premier League and seal back-to-back home victories in the top flight.

He said, “It’s a really good win and we played really well – we all did our jobs and we’re all buzzing with the result.

“We knew we had to be patient to try and break them down, and we knew we had to bide our time and then take our chances when they came.

“That’s what we did and everyone stuck to the game-plan very well, so it’s a good day for us scoring four goals, because that will give us confidence for the next few games.”

The midfielder came into the side in place of Solly March for the visit of the Welsh side to the south-coast, and having had to play a role from the bench at times so far this season, Knockaert acknowledged that his role within the side had changed.

“I’d say that was one of my best games of the season, and I was happy to score.

“It has been a different level for everyone this year and we defend a lot more this year - so it has been different for me because we don’t go forward as much.

“I try to do my job defensively for the team and then get into the box when we attack and create chances.

“This performance will be big for me for the rest of the season, but I always think about the team first and take care of the rest.”

Albion’s wide-man was withdrawn in the second period to a standing ovation from the ground – he was full of praise for the home supporters and their backing during the campaign so far.

“Swansea were in good form so this is a big win for us – we thought they’d be on the front-foot and we kept very patient and broke them down when we could.

“The reception the fans gave me when I went off meant a lot; they know I love them as well and they are great supporters here so we always know they’ll back us at home.

“Our home form will be massive for the rest of the season, we have some big and vital games at the Amex and we know that will be crucial for the rest of the campaign.”
