Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Davy Propper says he is enjoying a more advanced position in the team, after another impressive display in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Everton.
The Dutchman was involved in a lot of Albion’s forward play, which included an eye-catching dummy and pass to play Florin Andone through on goal.
He said, “I liked playing there, as I can run forward a bit more and create some chances. I’m happy in this role.
“I like to play in the space behind the midfield, which isn’t much, but I can manage that and it was a really nice turn for [Andone’s chance].
“Overall, after a few games where didn’t get the points and maybe we deserve a little bit more, I thought this win was one we really deserved.”
Propper once again praised his compatriot Jurgen Locadia after he scored for a second consecutive game, and feels the forward’s belief is growing with more game time.
“I have seen a lot of him and he is very good at scoring goals. He is often in the right place at the right time.”
“He started the last three games and you can see he is building confidence and playing really well.”
The midfielder looked ahead to the turn of the year and said the aim is simply to consolidate the club’s mid-table position in the Premier League.
“I still hope we can stay here, maybe look up in the table and stay away from where we don’t want to be.”
