Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Chloe Peplow has called on her team mates to express themselves in this evening’s FA Continental Tyres League Cup match against Crystal Palace.
Peplow also described how it could be positive for the team to switch their focus away from league action for a brief period.
She said, “The league games come thick and fast but as we head into the later part of the season, they become more spread out, so we don’t have as many.
“Because of that I think it’s important that we try to get through in the cup because it will help the consistency of our games flow.
“It’s also nice to have another focus outside of the league, and it gives us a chance to meet different opponents like Tottenham and Manchester United, who are in the Championship and might come up next season."
The 20-year-old then looked back at the past results in the group stages and the importance of putting in a good performance.
“We’re looking for a win from this match.
“We’ve had a couple of bad results in the Conti Cup, like when we lost against Tottenham on penalties, so we need to cement the win to make sure we can give ourselves a chance of progressing out of the group.
“I think it’s important that we go and express ourselves in attack. We have some players that don’t get as much opportunity in that league as they would like because we don’t have as much of the ball, so we’re looking to showcase what we can do as individuals as much as anything else.”
Tickets will be available to purchase on the turnstiles at a price of £10 for adults and £4 for under-10s.
