Brighton & Hove Albion winger Jurgen Locadia reflected on a ‘crazy week’ after his goal secured a 1-0 win over Everton at the Amex Stadium.
There was an element of doubt surrounding Locadia’s finish with the linesman flagging for offside, but the goal stood due to the final touch coming off Andre Gomes, and the Dutchman claimed his second goal in two games.
He said, “It’s crazy, I’ve gone from not playing every game to then scoring two games in a row. I’m very happy and proud and I want to thank everybody for reaching this moment.
“We started well in the first half and also began the second half well too. Everton created a lot of chances, and they almost scored, but I feel that we deserved the win today.
“For the goal, I saw the ball deflect off an Everton player and it was a clear goal in my opinion, but the referee had his doubts. In the end, he gave it.”
The Dutchman also praised goalkeeper David Button following a fine Premier League debut between the sticks, and explained how Albion can take momentum from this result heading into the West Ham United match.
“It’s hard for any goalkeeper to come into a team without any game rhythm. Maty [Ryan] has played every game, so David did very well and had a really good game today.
“Overall we’ve played well lately. We were unlucky against Bournemouth, we created a lot of chances and didn’t score. But I think we’ve played some good football recently, and we need that to continue.”
