Towell Re-joins Rotherham On Loan

By James Hilsum • 31 August 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Richie Towell has re-joined Rotherham United on a season-long loan deal.

The Irishman has linked up with the Millers again, after being part of Paul Warne’s squad that won promotion to the Sky Bet Championship via the League One play-offs last season.

Manager Chris Hughton said, “This loan move is another good opportunity for Richie to go out and play regularly in a highly-competitive Championship division.

“He had a very successful time with Rotherham last season, and this gives him an opportunity to return to a club he knows well.

“I would like to wish Richie all the very best of luck, and we will closely monitor his progress throughout the season.”

Towell’s move to Albion from Dundalk was confirmed in November 2015, after he scored 25 goals in 32 appearances during his final season with the Irish side.

The midfielder featured 45 times and scored six goals for Rotherham last season, including the full 120 minutes of the Millers’ extra-time victory over Shrewsbury Town in the League One Play-Off Final.
